Organizing a Watch Party

Due to social distancing recommendations from the CDC and local authorities, CIS Wayne County has made the difficult decision to cancel its 2020 annual dinner fundraising event. In lieu of this event, CIS is thrilled to invite you and yours to a special online premiere of its highly anticipated, locally produced video, In Schools and Beyond.

This video has been crafted from first-hand accounts of local education professionals like superintendents, principals, and CIS staff as well as some of the students CIS has been so privileged to serve.

Mark your calendars for:
Monday, November 2nd at 7pm as our organization releases this exciting 20-minute production

Tune-in to watch online at
Facebook.com/CISWayneCo or on YouTube.

It is our hope that this production would not simply be viewed in isolation, but in small groups of people who are vested in the success of our organization. With this in mind, consider hosting a watch party in your home with friends, family members, and all who might be inclined to care about CIS’ mission, to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

While every watch party might be different, here’s a standard example of how one might work:

  • host learns about CIS’ video premiere
  • host invites friends, family, colleagues, etc. who might be interested in learning about CIS to their ‘watch party’ either at home or in a small public space, especially during the dates of November 2 – 10th (challenge match)
  • guests arrive, chat together, perhaps enjoy some light snacks or a meal
  • host streams CIS’ video In Schools and Beyond
  • guests interact online via social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
  • guests may also consider donating online or by check during the Wayne County Foundation’s challenge match period from November 2 – 10.

By liking, commenting, or sharing about the video premiere, each viewer will be automatically entered in a drawing with exciting giveaways featuring gift cards to local restaurants and attractions!

Fundraising in 2020 looks far different than any year before so, this year especially, CIS is relying on the community to share about the organization’s local impact by word of mouth, both online and in-person.

Streaming Instructions

Most modern smart TVs have the capability to access YouTube or mirror another device’s screen. Here are a few ways to stream the event at your watch party.

Stream from:

  • Smart TV
  • Apple TV
  • Roku
  • Amazon Fire TV Stick
  • Google Chromecast
  • or other comparable device

1] Open the YouTube app (download or enable if not already accessible)

2] Search “Communities In Schools of Wayne County”

3] Click/Select the corresponding channel

4] Play the In Schools and Beyond video

On Facebook: Simply visit CIS’ Facebook page and watch for the video to ‘go live’ at 7pm

Many handheld devices have a screen mirroring/sharing capability. If you plan to stream the video this way, be sure to research how to do this beforehand. In most instances, viewing the video on a YouTube-enabled streaming device will perform better than a screen mirroring/sharing method.

Lastly, please note that this video will be available for viewing on both Facebook and YouTube after the premiere on November 2nd. If it better fits your schedule to host a watch party after the premiere date we encourage you to do so! Simply note that all giveaway selections will take place during the premiere on 11/2.

Call CIS at (765) 983-2263 if you have any detailed questions about how to host a watch party. As always, thank you for your support of our organization!
